On December 22, 2005, Chairman Choongkon Lee of SL Co., Ltd. established the "SL Seobong Foundation" by contributing KRW 10 billion in private assets, including KRW 5.5 billion in cash and KRW 4.5 billion in shares held.
SL Seobong Foundation aims to conduct various projects to develop and stabilize the social development, with a foundation office located in the headquarters of SL Co., Ltd. (236-3, Nowon-dong 3-ga, Buk-gu, Daegu) for developing the local community with a shrinking economy
We have been doing these things as one-off projects depending on the circumstances so far, but we would like to turn the foundation to a systematic, organized and sustainable one to pass on a brighter future to our descendants, and will provide public services with the foundation's wealth. Moreover, we plan to expand and develop the foundation with the support of those who are in favor of the purpose of this corporation, SL Co., Ltd. and its affiliates.
This foundation started projects by completing the registration of the establishment of the corporation in early January 2006 after receiving approval from the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education on December 22, 2005. The board of directors consists of five executives including Chairman of SL Choongkon Lee, former President of Yeungnam University Chang-Woo Ryu, President of Daegu Bank Hoieon Lee, Chairman of Daegu Bar Association Jungseok Seo, and former President of Kyungpook National University Hospital Soohan Jeon, and two auditors including Director of Hana Anjin Accounting Corporation Sungho Choi and CEO of the True Accounting Corporation Jaeho Lee.
Chairman Choongkon Lee succeeded the honorary Chairman Haejoon Lee who established Samlip Industrial Co., Ltd. in 1954, at a young age of 30s, and grew the corporation into a center of local manufacturing. Currently, it has developed into the global auto parts company with more than 4,000 employees in 12 affiliates in Korea and 8 affiliates abroad. It recorded the sales of more than 1 trillion won, contributing greatly to regional development through local economic, social, and sports activities.
People who are familiar with Chairman Lee’s principles and his frugal spirit of saving even a sheet of tissue and a single office lights, consistently say about the foundation, he established with his own funds, that there is no doubt what Chairman Choongkon Lee did what he was supposed to do.
Chairman Lee firmly believes that the social responsibility of a corporate is to contribute to national management through corporate development, and that the key driver of corporate management philosophy lies in talent. In compliance with his beliefs, we are running the SL Seobong Foundation, with which we will do our utmost to contribute to social development, foster core talents, and create a world where we live together.
